HOW CAN BIKE SHARING IMPROVE BERLIN?
Saga, a sustainable bike-sharing brand for Berlin’s tourists in 2030
Part of the city’s public transit system, Saga is on a mission to provide the most sustainable transit options for Berlin’s many visitors.
Berlin’s rapid growth will strain their resources and the environment
By 2030 Berlin will have a huge influx of new visitors, businesses, and residents that are at risk of compromising an aging transit system and negatively impacting the environment.
These people are devoted to the preservation and improvement of the environment through vigilant, selfless action. They take personal responsibility for doing whatever they reasonably can to safeguard the planet for future generations.
The Creative Challenge
Create a sustainble transit solution that allows Berlin to grow with ease.
Biking is more than transportation in Berlin. It’s an integral part of the culture and how locals experience the city.
The Big Idea
Help tourists explore Berlin while supporting the local environment
Saga provides a fun and hassle-free bike sharing system for tourists that allows exploration and an authentic journey in Berlin while also helping the city by collecting vital environmental sensory data.
THE SAGA SYSTEM
The SAGA bike sharing system has two main functions. The user gets a fun and convenient transportation system that tracks where they ride, allowing them to get a custom 3d print of all the places they visited during their stay. The city gets a sustainable transportation system that supports the incoming visitor population while being able to monitor the environment with sensors on each bike.
The bike is designed with the environment and non-athletic user in mind. Made from recycled aluminum, with proprietary parts, this bike is light-weight, easy to maintain, and undesirable for theft. A special monitoring device that collects environmental data is mounted on the frame.
Once you have your bike, it’s time to explore. Because our persona is not interested in a cookie-cutter tourist experience, we created a navigation system that suggests instead of guides. As you ride around it can call out POI along your route.
KIOSK AND PARKING
Street clutter is a big problem in a city with lots of bike riders. We didn’t want to contribute to the issue so we created custom rental kiosks and parking systems that used resources sparingly and sustainably.
